Let me start off by saying my heart goes out to the victims of the tsunami that hit today and I'm very happy that the people I know on the coast of Cali are all okay thus far. It's truly traumatic for the world and I do hope we start coming together rather than segregate because that obviously has never been the answer.
Watched a good movie, Skin last month via netflix and found it amazing that more people didn't talk about it. I wanted to see it when it was at the independent circuits but couldn't quite find the time. It was based on the lives of a south african couple (white) around the 60's or so that had an older son (white) then a daughter (light skinned black) which came during apartheid and the issues that stemmed for the whole family in so many different aspects including the thoughts of infidelity, racism, where one fits in life etc. Then they have one more son that I think comes out a bit lighter but still not white which shuts down the infidelity issues between them. So touching and so poignant and so connecting. We all bleed red, we all want a good life and we all want to love and to be loved so why does our skin color separate us? If you want to hate/dislike someone do so for their negative, stupidity/ignorance and take pity because they still haven't grasped the simple in life. This movie gets an A, not for the shooting style or the acting but because they told a true story that simply connects us all. So if you're looking to be enlightened and moved, check this amazing story out.
I'm at 148.4lbs today and I still have all of today and all of tomorrow to go. I feel great now that the finish line is fast approaching and will be updating tomorrow after I know that everyone I know is safe and sound! Hope all is well with you and yours.
